In the glass

It was thought to be like Don Melchor. That was met with a different guess, a 10-year-old New World wine. The alcohol was very high.

Site

The wine comes from the Max V vineyard in the Aconcagua Valley, in the Aconcagua region of Chile, and is a blend of 96% Carmenere and 4% Petit Verdot. In 1994, Carmenere reappeared in Chile when vines taken for Merlot were identified as Carmenere. Because it ripens late, Petit Verdot was abandoned by many producers in the 1960s and 70s; it is now slowly being revived in some quality-focused vineyards.
