Domaine Haute Févrie Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie 2022
The flavour is light, so light that it comes across as almost watery.
Region: Loire · Type: White · Vintage: 2022 · Producer: Domaine La Haute Févrie · Grape: Melon de Bourgogne

In the glass
Both the flavour and the acidity sit in the middle. There is something cheesy about it, and it gives the impression of a lot of lees contact. Later on a scent like clear rice wine comes through, which I think comes from the grape.
Producer
Domaine La Haute Févrie is a family domaine in its fourth generation of growing its own grapes and making the wine itself, a vigneron-récoltant (a grower who makes wine only from the grapes of its own vineyards). It was Claude Branger, who took over the domaine from his father, who made the Branger name known in Muscadet. Today his son Sébastien Branger runs the domaine.
Site
The wine comes from the Pays Nantais in the Loire, France, under the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine name. This is the domaine's basic cuvée, made from its young vines, which are 15 to 35 years old, 25 on average.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand and the wine is aged on its yeast lees (Sur Lie). It is 100% Melon de Bourgogne.
