Château Haut Selve Le Blason Bordeaux 2022

I tasted this red blind. It came across as dry and bright, with high acidity carrying plum and red cherry.

Region: Bordeaux · Type: Red · Vintage: 2022 · Producer: Lesgourgues · Grape: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon

A bottle of Château Haut Selve Le Blason Bordeaux.

In the glass

The wine was dry, with high acidity and a medium body. I found plum and red cherry on the nose and palate.

Producer

Château Haut Selve was founded in 1993 by Jean-Jacques, Arnaud and Denis Lesgourgues, and its parent company is Maison Léda. The estate describes itself as the only wine estate newly created in Bordeaux in the twentieth century, planted on a historic Graves site that had been destroyed by phylloxera and left as forest for 120 years. Since 2018 the domaine has held HVE level 3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale) and has followed the TerraVitis framework for sustainable viticulture.

Site

The domaine covers 43 hectares between pine forests and gravel slopes at Saint-Selve, in the Graves. This wine is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

Since 2018 the team of Stéphane Derenoncourt (Derenoncourt Consultants) has advised the estate on both vineyard work and winemaking. The domaine's cellar (chai) was designed by Sylvain Dubuisson.
